[Português acima] This work was created in response to the January 2021 challenge of the Atelier MVinhas Arts and Culture Circuit - a rereading of Hilma af Klint.
I got to know Hilma af Klint's work just before the challenge. I was impressed with her story; with the fact that she was one of the precursors of abstract art, even before Kandinsky, and that she decided to keep her works a secret until twenty years after her death. She knew it would not be understood in her day.
In common with Hilma af Klint, I found the fact that we painted the invisible world with many colors, messages, and symbols, as I do in my abstracts.
I started to analyze Hilma af Klint's work with reason. I looked at the symbols she used; I even consulted the Swedish to Portuguese translator to see if any words I read made sense. I found some possibilities but, at a certain moment, I decided to leave reason behind and give in to intuition; after all, isn't that what governs our work?
It was at that moment that I saw something that made sense to me. I started to see the mathematical symbol of the infinite in the whole work and several references to the feminine; to the power to create and generate. I saw my letter, "G", appear where before I saw an "H", and I read the message "I Dare to Be Infinite". Yes, I dare to dream, I dare to create, I dare to generate life, art, faith, gratitude, hope, and prosperity. I am the infinite because God is within me.
