[English below] Sou a segunda de quatro filhos e Gêila é a minha única irmã. Era aquela com quem mais brincava e brigava durante a infância e adolescência e, com o passar do tempo, tornou-se, também, minha comadre e grande amiga.

Há muitos anos moramos longe uma da outra e só nos encontramos fisicamente uma ou duas vezes por ano. Num momento de grande saudade e gratidão por tudo o que ela representa para mim, resolvi pintar seu retrato, transformando-o numa espécie de cartão gigante, em que escrevo e desenho o que ela representa para mim. 

Escolhi pintar o fundo fazendo referência à arte de rua para ter maior liberdade de expressar  nosso amor e companheirismo por meio da escrita e de um desenho infantil. Além disso, o contraste entre o rosto realista em preto e branco e o fundo livre e colorido ressalta a própria diferença entre as nossas formas de ser e de pensar, porém mostrando que, havendo amor e respeito, o resultado dessa combinação pode ser de muita beleza e harmonia.

[Português acima] I am the second of four children and Gêila is my only sister. She was the one with whom I played and fought most during childhood and adolescence and, over time, she also became the mother of my godson, the godmother of my son and a great friend.

We have lived far from each other for many years and we only meet physically once or twice a year. In a moment of great longing and gratitude for all that she represents for me, I decided to paint her portrait, transforming it into a kind of giant card, in which I write and draw what she represents to me.

I chose to paint the background with reference to street art to have more freedom to express our love and companionship through writing and a children's drawing. In addition, the contrast between the realistic face in black and white and the free and colorful background highlights the big difference between our ways of being and thinking, but showing that, with love and respect, the result of this combination can be of much beauty and harmony.
